Australia China International Cultural Exchange Society (ACICES)
 
ACICES is based in Perth, Western Australia and has two branch offices in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The objective of our Society is to promote the development of economy, culture, science and technology, education and etc in both Australia and China through promoting Sino-Australian cultural and educational exchange and cooperation between the two countries. We are not only the bridge for the exchange of economy, trade, culture, education, and talents, but also facilitator in the development of the programs in such fields. We endeavor to open up effective non-governmental exchange and cooperation programs in various fields, especially in education cooperation between the two countries. 
 
Our operational qualifications--ACICES is a legal society registered in Australia, Hong Kong and Guangzhou with the objective to promote the non-governmental exchange and cooperation in economy, culture, science and technology, education and etc between Australia and China. ACICES is also an agent for overseas student recruitment, which has been authorized by Australian education providers who are legally registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education of China. We are pioneers in promoting cultural and educational exchange and cooperation between the universities, high schools and vocational schools of the two countries to open up various pathways of studying in Australia for Chinese students.
 
Our operation model--ACICES is a dedicated participant in all aspects of the cooperative programs including economy, culture, science and technology, education and etc, especially in directional training, double degrees, articulation and collaboration  in other forms between universities, schools and vocational colleges of Australia and China. We commit ourselves with our professional expertise to the whole process of the cooperative programs. This includes extensive research in program feasibility, in-depth matching of potential cooperative courses, as well as close follow-up of the negotiation and operation of the cooperative programs so as to ensure their success and sustainable development.

The Honorary Chairman of ACICES, Professor Gary Martin is currently Vice Chancellor (Faculty, Enterprise and International), at Murdoch University.

As Vice Chancellor, Professor Martin has responsibility for Six academic faculties, including Arts and Education, Creative Technologies and Media, Health Sciences, Law and Business, Minerals and Energy, Sustainability, Environmental and Life Sciences; International campuses; International relations; Educational partnerships (both domestic and international); Murdoch University’s regional campuses in Rockingham and Peel; Executive education 

Immediately prior to his appointment of Vice Chancellor, Professor Martin was Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor, Executive Dean, Division of Arts and Executive Dean of the Division of Social Sciences, Humanities and Education at Murdoch University.

Prior to moving into these senior positions, Professor Martin was Director of the Centre for Learning, Change and Development within the School of Education at Murdoch University. Professor Martin’s area of academic expertise is human capital development and he has particular expertise in the areas of adult learning and development, action learning, mentoring and competency development. He has worked closely with government agencies, industry and the professions on a range of consultancy and research projects. These include the Western Australian Departments of Conservation and the Environment; Education and Training; Premier and Cabinet; a and Treasury and Finance; and the Catholic Education Office of Western Australia.

Within the international arena Professor Martin has lead consultancy and training projects with the  Singaporean Ministry of Finance, DBS Vickers Security (Singapore), Coca Cola (Asia Pacific), SKF (Asia Pacific) and the National Institute of Education, Seychelles.

Professor Martin is the current Chair of Perth Education City (PEC) Board, a peak body funded under a joint industry government initiative which aims to raise the profile of Perth, both as a destination and as a provider of high quality educational services. He is also Chair, of the Innovative Research Universities’ International Group.

The Honorary President of ACICES, Professor Kevin McKenna is currently He is currently the president of the Council for International Students of WA (CISWA), a community based organisation which has worked for 50 years towards the welfare of international students.
 
Kevin McKenna has had extensive experience in the international education area over many years, firstly through several roles in Curtin Business School including executive Dean, then five years as Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin’s campus in Malaysia, followed by five years as head of Curtin’s International operations, retiring as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, International in October 2009.
 
Professor McKenna originally joined Curtin University of Technology from a position as an economist with the Australian Federal Government in Canberra, initially teaching economics and public finance. From 1994 till 1999 he was Quality Coordinator then Director, Planning and Quality for Curtin’s Business School. Much of the work in this role involved the planning, review and management of the Business School’s extensive international operations.
 
In 1999 and 2000 he acted as Executive Dean in charge of Curtin Business School. Over this time he developed several new offshore partnerships and was actively involved in the planning and management of all of the international activities. In June 2000 he was appointed as the founding Pro Vice-Chancellor at Curtin University of Technology’s Malaysian Campus in Miri, Sarawak. For nearly five years he was responsible for policies, planning and operations at the campus and for the recruitment of both local and international students.
 
From 2004 to 2009 he had overall responsibility for all of Curtin’s international operations, as Pro Vice-Chancellor then Deputy Vice-Chancellor, International. This involved the oversight of 7000 offshore students in various partnership arrangements in over a dozen countries as well as managing the recruitment of 3000 students per year at the Perth campus. A major outcome was the development of strategies aimed at increasing the flow of international students to Curtin’s Bentley campus, including programs focussing on attracting high quality research students. In 2008 he was responsible for the establishment of Curtin’s Singapore campus.
 
Mr John Wade has been Director of ECU International at Western Australia’s Edith Cowan University (ECU) from 2002 until April 2010.  During his time at ECU Mr Wade presided over a sharp rise in the number of international students studying at the university, a broadening and strengthening of international partnerships and alliances and helped establish ECU as a university of innovation, professionalism and quality in the international arena.
 
Mr Wade joined ECU after spending six years in the Middle East between 1996 and 2002 as Advisor to the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in Bahrain, a role that encompassed a wide range of training and education issues.
 
He was previously Director of various divisions in the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Training (DEET) in Western Australia.  In that capacity he was involved in high level management, policy development and implementation at a senior level, including liaising with peak employer, worker, education and training bodies.
 
Mr Wade has also led teams of Australian Government experts on projects for the World Bank in Central Asia over a period of two years and participated in World Bank projects in Pacific Russia.
 
Dr. Katherine Su Nie, Justice of the Peace, the founder and the President of the Society, is also the founders of Australia Bowen Griffins (ABG) Since ABG was founded in 1994, Dr. Katherine Su Nie has successfully established, controlled and managed an on-growing migration business in mainland China and Hong Kong and developed a strong commercial reputation and business network there. As an Australian registered migration agent, Dr. Katherine Su Nie has the capability of providing migration advice and assistance in various areas, with specialization in Business Skills Migration, Family Migration, General Skilled Migration and Students Visas. Over her nearly 20 years of practice, she has successfully assisted numerous business people to migrate and develop business in Australia and countless students to study there.
 
Dr. Katherine Su Nie holds a Doctoral Degree in Management and a Master’s Degree in International Studies from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia. She has successfully completed the Education Agent Training Course (EATC) and passed a formal assessment to become one of the two/three hundred Registered Education Agents in Australia. Over the past 16 years, Dr. Katherine Su Nie has been devoting herself to the field of Australian and Chinese education. With her proficiency and profound expertise, she dedicates herself to promoting the internationalization of Australian high-quality education and to the cultivation of Chinese international talents, which has made an extraordinary contribution to the development of education in both China and Australia.
